Verification 2023
Each year, when operating under NSLP. a School Food Authority (SFA) must select and verify a sample of applications approved for benefits. This is to confirm that no one is abusing the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This must be completed by November 15 of the current school year.
Note: This statement only applies to districts that processed applications for NSLP. If you need guidance as to whether you need to process Verification this school year, please contact your State Department.
We have assembled the following resources for your district to help you complete Verification for the 2023-2024 school year.

- Student Balance Letters and Memos -
Balance Letters can be sent to parents whose students’ balances fall below an amount determined by your district. There are two (2) types of letters; Negative Balance and Low Balance.
Balance Memos are printable slips of paper that are useful to hand out to students and staff who fall into the balance threshold determined by your district. - Balance Alert Emails - The Email Balance Alerts feature allows your district to email low and negative balance letters. This provides a more efficient way to communicate with parents and can reduce printing and mail costs. This feature is unavailable if you don’t have email addresses populated in the student and adult accounts.
